The Red Deer is a Hotel/Restaurant/Pub well worth a visit. The atmosphere is that of a country pub, carpet and parquet flooing, cosy, with a roaring open hearth fire (only during the winter).
The food was very good with a varied selection of meals. For starters we tried, Salt and Pepper
Calamari, Deep Fried Breaded Brie, Soup of the day. For mains we tried, Hunters Chicken with chips, Macaroni, Aubergine with salad, Meat Pie with a red wine sauce and seared vegetables. Overall a bit pricey but dogs are allowed inside, so that's great.
The staff were very helpful and professional.
We hope to return in the future.

Essen schmeckte gut.

My friend and I had late lunch and were hogging a table having a good chat and the staff were super attentive and accommodating of the time we needed to elapse after lunch before we could fit dessert in. We really wanted a dessert and my brownie was excellent! Extra thanks to Amy and Leanne who updated our car registrations on the parking so we would not get a ticket for being over the 3 hours. The food was tasty, good value and great service. Bonus points for being dog friendly. Will definitely be back.

Had a terrible experience on Sunday with family. My own meal was served with French bread on my dinner plate and the bread had green mould on both slices. How kitchen staff and the waitress didn't spot this is unbelievable. Also before the meal arrived we ordered Prosecco which arrived totally flat, with no bubbles, and a terrible taste to it. Never again

Food was excellent. Had the pate to start, good size and there was enough bread for the pate!!! Which is unusual ?. Had the fish and chips for main, the fish was super fresh and the batter was amazing, very different to usual but I liked it.

Service was a little slow if I'm being critical, but it was 5pm on a Monday evening and it was dead, issue is staff are behind the bar and can't see where we were seated so maybe felt a little forgotten.

Update: Returned for Sunday Lunch. Absolutely delicious. We had roast sirloin of beef served with green cabbage, carrots, parsnips, roast potstoes, Yorkshire pudding and a delicious gravy. I rate 5 stars however will say that the veg was lukewarm, although I ate it all. Left some potatoes because there was loads (7) on the plate.

Came for an early lunch on a Saturday. Staff were friendly and professional. Lots of space at the table. Good selection on the menu. Had steak sandwich with fries and signature burger with fries. Will definitely return.

Great meal on a Tuesday evening. Cosy country pub feel to the Vintage Inns. Lovely starters cheesy mushrooms and camembert fritters. Was told the Hunter's Chicken was excellent. Fish and chips was good. Staff were helpful and cheery. Will visit again.
